PMC - BEGINNER
Did you always want to make jewelry out of silver, but thought metalsmithing was too complicated and required too much equipment? Why not try Precious Metal Clay?
Precious Metal Clay is much like a polymer clay or play-doh and is very easy to work with. It is a material that contains fine silver particles with an organic binder. During the process, the binder is burned off and what remains is fine silver. Your completed pieces are 99.9% pure silver. Your imagination is your only limitation, no prior experience is required.
PMC Basics teaches you everything you need to know to work with the clay and what kinds of clay are best used for what projects. We’ll teach you how to dry connect your components, how to use molds and textures, as well as how to clean your pieces for a professional finish. Lastly, we’ll teach you how to torch fire the pieces, or you can leave them for us to kiln fire them.
You don’t need to have any previous jewelry making experience, you don’t need to be an artist and you don’t need to bring a thing. All of what you need will be provided.
We will provide you with 18grams of silver clay and tools to use in class. With the clay provided you should be able to make at least three pendants, more clay will be available for purchase if you have other projects you would like to make.
This class also known as beginner PMC is $169.00 for 7 hours. All of the materials, tools, and your lunch are included in this price.
This class is a long but very fun class. You will make molds and also do your own designs in the clay. We will then burn them in our kiln and the clay turns to 99.9% fine silver.
We also offer an advanced PMC class after you complete our beginner class.
*This class is held once a month on a Saturday and can accommodate 6 people per class (Please call us at 210-558-0559 for the class schedule as each month the Saturday changes) *
